What made you decide to play music?:I heard Metallica's Black Album and felt a connection to it like I had heard it a milion times before. I almost immediately started playing my dad's acoustic guitar, and finally we bought an electric guitar together and I start taking lessons. I was 10 years old.
What is an embarrassing fact?:I never learned to readddddddd....
What was the best show of your career?:My favorite show was our CD release for When Broken is Easily Fixed in Burlington in 2003. I also really enjoyed playing in Sydney, Aus in 2006.
Any advice to aspiring musicians?:Practice hard and make quality demos. When you are making demos spend as much time as you can to make sure it's your best work, especially with singing.
What is your proudest life achievement?:Making music a career
How long have you been playing music?:16 years.
How would you describe yourself?:Talkative, Outgoing, Easy Going, and a bit of a control freak.
Hardest part about being on the road a lot?:Being away from your loved ones, and eating vegan.
What gets you through being on the road?:Having the best bandmates and crew ever.... and of course the kids.
What do you plan to do in the future?:Continue playing music, working on my label, get married, have kids, and go back to school.
What would you be doing if not playing music?:I'd probably be getting my masters or PhD in some kind of nerdy science.

He was then replaced by Neil Boshart, childhood friend of Shane Told. The new lineup recorded a second EP, When the Shadows Beam, in preparation for their first tour in Eastern Canada. The band signed to Victory Records in October 2002 with a complete lineup as Hamilton attempted to complete his secondary education one semester early.

Silverstein's Victory debut is a jarring mixture of emo's earnest determination, elements of hardcore, and the heaviest of heavy metal. While vocalist Shane Told delivers lines like "How can I say I love you back, you never made me happy" in a cracked, soaring singing voice, When Broken Is Easily Fixed actually begins with a ragged scream that's as arresting as his singing is plaintive. Musically, the LP is dominated by the dynamic shifts and driving melodies of emo. But Silverstein's membership was derived from existing hardcore, metal, and punk squads, and these fragiles are never very far from view. "Last Days of Summer" begins as a June day ends, with shuffling percussion and gently strummed guitars. But just as the fragile strains of a violin drift in, Told's growling, scarred alter ego appears behind his singing self.
